A gentle start(not)

As we enter this new lunation, I recently heard someone say that the benefics don’t particularly like being in Virgo and while that is technically true, I find that it lacks a bit of nuance: the reason the benefics don’t do well in Virgo is not that it is an evil or destitute sign. On the contrary, the archetypal maiden is fundamentally about understanding how a system works and improving it. At its best, she gauges the environment it is in, both physically and metaphysically, in order to improve it. Think of Disney princesses, who embody the Pisces–Virgo axis very well. Both benefics struggle here because they seek to unite and participate in the grand scheme of things, while Virgo is about the integrity of things.

This new moon is ruled by a Mercury that just entered Libra, and said Mercury is ruled by a Venus who basically just went to the underworld in Scorpio. So, not to double down, but we are entering a period in the collective where there will be an assessment of our interpersonal dynamics and whether or not we believe they have been fair so far.

Some of you might be revisiting patterns that you might not have been aware of until recently, and you might be asked whether or not you want to change them or keep them going. Others might realise that the relationships they already have are going well and could last longer. It is just about assessment. There is no right or wrong answer here. There is only what makes you feel most aligned.

However, with the looming Venus retrograde approaching, I wouldn’t consider what is being talked about—or just considered—right now to be a one-and-done thing. In the coming months, Venus will be important, and I would consider this period a time when you take a good look at whether or not your relationships (family, friendships, monogamous or non-monogamous relationships, and even your hookups/hoetation) are authentic. It’s fine to have acquaintances, but mistaking one for a friend will put you in uncomfortable positions.

I think September 12th to 14th is shaping up to be messy personally, but with important symbolism. Mars in cancer is the hidden foe here. Make sure that whatever flood you conjure is aimed at the right target. Don’t be afraid to burn bridges but maybe not the one you’re standing on.
